When you are married, you often find yourself wondering if you are doing everything that you should be doing. It can be hard to learn all about your husband and it is easy to accidentally insult him or make a meal you thought he liked but later found out he actually doesn’t. Sometimes it can seem that nothing that you do will please your husband. There is plenty that you can do and all of it is very simple.
For one thing, respect him. If you want respect, you have to give it. Respecting your husband includes things such as boundaries. Don’t go snooping through his email unless he’s given you a very good reason, for example. You should also respect him enough not to embarrass him in front of others; if he makes a mistake, don’t call him on it in front of other people. No one likes to be embarrassed in front of others. Also, curb your jealousy. While you should show your husband that you think he’s attractive and possibly has other women eyeing him, you also need to learn to trust him. Too much jealousy will only make your husband unhappy.
Please your husband by showing that you love him. Little gestures go a long way towards telling a man how you feel. Let him know that you love him by drawing a bath for him, making him dinner, going to the trouble of getting his favorite shirt clean when you know he’ll probably want to wear it. Small things like that tell your husband that you love him and they will certainly please him. You should also make sure that he knows you’re on his side and will listen to him when he needs someone. And of course, make yourself look nice. This doesn’t mean starving yourself so you can fit into that size 4 you wore before you had 3 kids but it does mean getting up, bathed, dressed and maybe fixing your hair up or a little makeup, just enough to make sure he notices that you’re pretty. If he asks why you’re dressing up a bit, tell him it’s for him and you’ll be happy with how pleased he’ll be.
